Trail Talk Tuesday – Mount Nemo to Twiss Rd (15K)

This point to point run on the Main Bruce trail gives the avid trail runner a little bit of everything! Technical Single track, Rocky Sections, Marshy grass, Road and groomed double track!

Where to Park: Side of the Road Parking at the Base of Mt Nemo (Walkers Line and No 2 Sideroad). End of run parking on Side of the Road on Twiss Rd (Approx Address 7435 Twiss Rd)

Trail Type: Winding Technical Single Track, Road, Grass, some wide double track out of Nemo, Rock Scramble

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

Points of Interest: Views at the top of Mt Nemo, Caves and Karsts, Bridges

This run begins with what seems like an easy run through a wooded area. It then becomes a very technical rock scrambly climb up Mount Nemo! 

You are following the main bruce trail blazes on this run so it is very difficult to get lost. Once at the top of nemo make sure to stop and take in the views. On  clear day you can see the CN Tower and the whole Toronto skyline!

The trail is very well marked in this area and although it may seem groomed it had it fair share of windy technical rocky sections. 

Eventually once the trail takes you around the whole mountain ridge it will bring you to the main gates to the conservation area. You will continue to follow the blazes accross the road, over a stile and back on the trail as it runs alongside the road. Eventually the trail ends and you are on a short section of road before you dip back into some fun single track.

You will eventually come to a river crossing with a neat steel bridge built over it. 

A couple kilometers past the bridge you will enter the town of kilbride and again have a short section of road to run that following the bruce trail blazes will bring you behind the kilbride public school onto more single track. A short road crossing and some technical rocky single track again will bring you to your finish on twiss road. We have run this section in both daylight and by headlamp at night. Both equally fun and difficult!
